P is for Patio

It's interesting how we don't take notice of something, sometimes, until we don't have it. Each week Kate and I go through her ABC flash cards. You know how they work. A is for Apple, B is for Baby, and so on. Well, it never struck me that we take things for granted and accept them as the "norm" until I went outside of that so-called, "norm". I chime in up until the "H is for House" and then I wonder if Kate will soon ask, "Mom, why is H for House? We don't have one of those." I'll have to say, you're right sweet baby, but we CAN say P is for Patio." Yay! ha.

Yes, we moved last Saturday afternoon, after Kate's birthday party in the park. How many things can you do in one weekend or in one day, for that matter? A lot, evidently, if you are up for it. Thankfully, with the help of Mom and Dad, Dan and David ... we are in our garden apartment in New York City! I can hardly believe that can co-exist in the same sentence.  We have a nice big patio outside and we have fully enjoyed it every night this week. Grilling out, Kate swimming in her baby pool, buying flowers, candlelit dinners, July 4th BBQ with friends, playing washers. You name it, and we have done it this past week outside.  We are so excited to enjoy our outdoor moments in the comfort of our own home now!

My garden.

My herbs.

My man and his grill.

My big one year old and her car.

Grandma and Kate getting ready for our dinner at a REAL table...outside!

Kate's first swim in her own backyard. Ignore the wardrobe malfunction. :) We didn't quite get that suit on completely right.

Shawna learning the game of "washers" with Dan.

Now, here's a slideshow from our July 4th BBQ with friends in our backyard. It has definitely been a week of firsts!
